Description
Wild Draughts is a temporary handle
In this game, players jump the opponent to promote them, but gain points at the end of the game for every remaining opponent's king, (plus points for their own unpromoted pieces if any.) Only kings remove pieces with jumps, and only kings can jump kings. The game ends when a player can neither jump, nor move a counter.
If the scores assigned to kings and to counters have a high LCM, this scheme yields drawless games with a mixture of capture and giveaway tactics.
Rules
8x8 board, 12 pieces per player. Objective Highest Score
Counters promote the opponent's counters to Kings by jumping them. Jumps can be forwards or backwards. Counters normally move diagonally forward, and promote to Kings at the last rank. They cannot jump Kings.
In some options Kings move by sliding; in others Kings can only jump. They capture pieces by jumping them using flying jumps -- exact kind of jump is according to the option.
The same piece cannot be jumped twice in a turn, and all pieces are removed at the end of the turn.
If any piece can make a jump, one piece must be chosen to do so. It continues jumping until no more jumps are available.
The game ends when a player can neither jump nor move a counter.
Winning is by score: Opponents' kings count 30 remaining friendly Discs count 11.
