This game is an evolution of Offshore to make a game that is easier to play "in the wild" with a physical set.
It changes the placement restriction and the definition of territory and of capture, but still keeps the feeling of peripheral territory that came with using hulls.
Consider it as a data-point in your evolution of games research, as well as an interesting game of its own with new emergent features, such as surrounding a small group to prevent placement; partial destruction of opponent territory through capture of parts of groups; and major captures through group unification, but risk of not being able to form a new group afterwards.
