I was reviewing Goats Wintering and ran into a non-cooperative cycle, and made rule changes that changes that prevent it.
Game play is very little affected otherwise: random play lasts form 2 to 39 turns on a 12 cell limping board, and look-ahead of 25 turns solves it.
each turn has few decisions and long look-ahead is needed. - But in fact there are some heuristics humans players can use...
The changes are:
named the move types Group and Stray.
Added restriction to Stray: not after last player Strays
Added restriction to Group after Pass: Not allowed to undo previous move.
Added restriction to Place: must have an adjacent empty (a form of no suicide placements)
Anyway, please update the game and rules. as attached.
