Ludii 1.2 doesn't open on my computer - AlekErickson - 05-29-2021
Ludii 1.1.19 worked fine, but 1.2 fails to open.
I have a mac.
I updated Java.
What could be the issue?

Hi,
On https://ludii.games/download.php, we have a requirement for Mac users:
- Mac users may need to: Settings > Security & Privacy > Open Anyway.
Can you try that and let us know if that fixed your issue? That's not something new from this last version but maybe that will fix the Mac issue here.

No, if you mean right clicking/open, and then the popup question comes up, and I click open anyway, this was standard practice.
For a settings/security-privacy maneuver, I never found this in previous version, honestly don't know what you mean here.
What the error message says is:
The Java JAR file "Ludii-1.2.0.jar" could not be launched
Check the console for possible error messages

Please try the following:
1. Try to launch the JAR by double clicking on it. You will be blocked with a security warning. Dismiss the warning.
2. Go to your System Preferences and open your Security and Privacy tab.
3. You should see a check box towards the bottom that asks whether to run the app last launched (it should name the JAR). Check this box.
4. Then when you launch the JAR again, it should ask you to confirm and then run normally once you accept.

Hi Cameron,
A friend of mine had the same issue Alek described with Ludii 1.2 on a Macbook yesterday. He installed the JAR, went on System Preferences and Opened anyway. It then popped a box asking to give Java permission to access the Download folder (where the jar file was located), he granted permission and got the same error as Alek. (The Java JAR file "Ludii-1.2.0.jar" could not be launched - Check the console for possible error messages)
We did however manage to launch it from the terminal with java -jar Ludii-1.2.0.jar.
I haven't had any troubles with Ludii 1.2 on Linux and Windows.
