I have read the rules and I get it is a variation on backgammon. I know you need a 1 to start, and if you don't get a 1 you can only pass. However if you do get a 1, I cannot see how to move onto the board.

Hi,

You need to drag the piece from the relevant player's hand to its starting position on the board.

To see legal moves, turn on the View > Show Legal Moves option. It should show a faint blue dot on the piece when it's draggable, then when you grab it with the mouse you should see a faint red dot where you're allowed to drag it to.

Cameron

I tried all that stuff and it is not working for me. When there is only one White grain showing, there are still no legal moves.

Hi,

I just tried and that works perfectly well here.
Just maybe that rule is confusing you:
"Throws of 1, 4, and 8 grant the player another throw. Players make all of the throws in their turn first, and then move the values of the throws individually"

That means if during his turn the player is getting a throw of 1, 4 or 8, he continues to throw the dice until he get a different throw. Then at that moment he can use any throw gotten in his previous moves and the last one. Example:

I get 1 then I get 8 then I get 2.
At that moment I can use a 1, a 2 or a 8 to play.
So only at that moment if that's the first move, he can enter a piece with the 1. Then he can use the 2 and 8 to move the piece just entered.

Regards,
Eric
