My brother wants to download and run ludii but ran into problems because it needed newer java.
He tried to get OpenJDK but so far nothing has worked.
Can somebody help by providing a detailed description of the process of steps necessary to get a macbook pro up-to-date with java?
For some reason this wasn't a problem for me because I already have java, but something seemed different when trying to help him set it up.

The downloads page (https://ludii.games/download.php) lists some basic requirements (like, minimum Java version we need is 8), and also mentions some required security settings on Mac.
On that same page you'll also find a download link to the User Guide, which may have some more useful info.
