Doblet is a variation of Backgammon. Captured pieces should be treated like in backgammon, where they go onto the bar and have to be returned first to the start point before the player can move other pieces.
The current implementation counts them as pieces that have been born off, instead of as captured pieces.

Our Historian (Walter) does not seem to have specified this rule from the source he looked at.
Do you have an official source for this rule?
