A few features - AlekErickson - 08-10-2020

1) It seems like Branching factor analysis hasn't worked for any of the games I tried it on. Same for game tree analysis. Are these supposed to be functional yet or are they placeholders?

2) Levels of Play - it would be really exciting to create 100 game reports of various AI playing against each other, given different amounts of thinking time, and calculating the win-rates (focusing on determining how many discrete levels of play can be determined). This will manifest the further potential of Ludii as a research tool.

3) GIF exporter - if we play a game on Ludii, it would be really amazing to be able to immediately export it and share it online via Giphy. This way more people will find out about Ludii.

Hi,

1) It seems like Branching factor analysis hasn't worked for any of the games I tried it on. Same for game tree analysis. Are these supposed to be functional yet or are they placeholders?

They should be functional. Which games are you having problems with?

2) Levels of Play - it would be really exciting to create 100 game reports of various AI playing against each other, given different amounts of thinking time, and calculating the win-rates (focusing on determining how many discrete levels of play can be determined). This will manifest the further potential of Ludii as a research tool.

Is this suggestion based on the similar mechanism in Ai Ai? You might want to talk to Stephen about that :)

It would be a nice feature which we'll look into adding, based on the Ai Ai Elo differential approach, but those experiments take a long time -- something like several hours for games as simple as Tic-Tac-Toe -- and are infeasible for games of even moderate complexity. And unfortunately it's the more complex games that this measurement is really useful for.

3) GIF exporter - if we play a game on Ludii, it would be really amazing to be able to immediately export it and share it online via Giphy. This way more people will find out about Ludii.

We provide export to .png. Select Game > Game Screenshot, a screenshot of the Ludii application will be stored to the folder you run Ludii from.

Cameron

I think the export feature that Alex is suggesting, and would be really useful is to export a trial to an animated gif.

I have tried to get Branching and the other analysis to work on various games, both before, during, and after a trial. But it never shows up with anything. It just says it will take some time and then never prints the result.
