repetitions - unhandyandy - 12-01-2019

Does the ludii player detect repetitions in the position?  There should be a buit-in mechanism for resolving repetitions as either a draw or a win for one player.  In addition to chess and go, hnefatafl requires this.

This is not in the basic rules of the game no?

But yes we will do that for some others game like Go, we already have all the mechanisms to do that but this is not in the current library of Ludii.

Well, the "basic rules" of hnefatafl have been lost.  But all modern reconstructions have rules concerning repetitions.

I would guess that many simple games are susceptible to forced repetition by a player who is losing, and thus the rules need to deal with it.  I think appropriate functions should be part of the standard ludii library.

"...we already have all the mechanisms to do that but this is not in the current library of Ludii. "

So I'm uncertain: would it be possible for me to implement repetition checking in hnefatafl myself, if you pointed me to the right functions?

Do you have a source for some rules with some repetitions of states?

For the current ludemes about repetitions, you have an example in the game Arimaa. BUT this is here just to avoid to play a move which reached one specific previous state. If you want to avoid to play a move to reach any previous state, no this ludeme is not available in the current version, you have to wait the release for that.
